Grocery Savings Strategy Overview

As I mentioned on the homepage, my program is all about strategy -- grocery savings strategy that is. Here we are going to discuss the basics of my program with links to more in-depth explanations of some aspects of the plan. You can also learn more about me and how I came to develop this program.

After you have organized your recipes into a well-planned menu, put together a shopping list based on the ingredients you need to prepare the money-saving recipes on your menu.

This is an over simplification of my plan. Use the links sprinkled throughout this page to get more in-depth details about each aspect of the grocery-savings strategy.

Your Repertoirre

Let’s get started! The first thing you need to do is know what you are going to cook. This is a huge deal! Knowing what you are going to cook is at the foundation of organizing yourself into grocery savings. This happens at a couple different levels. First you must have a pool of dishes or recipes you know how to prepare. The best way to save money is to have cook from scratch recipes. This may sound intimidating for those of you who thrive on prepared/processed foods, but fear not, I’m going to help you bridge that gap if need be.

Menu Preparation

Knowing what you’re going to cook comes into play at another level – the daily level. This brings us to your next step – preparing a menu. No, you’re not going to give your family a menu to choose from at each meal like a restaurant. You are going to prepare a menu of the delicious recipes you will provide your family during a given week and you will prepare this menu before you even think about heading to the grocery store. I have some sub-strategies that will put your menu into money-saving turbo mode.

Shopping

After you have organized your recipes into a well-planned menu, put together a shopping list based on the ingredients you need to prepare the money-saving recipes on your menu.

This is an over simplification of my plan. Use the links sprinkled throughout this page to get more in-depth details about each aspect of the grocery-savings strategy.

What If I Want to Buy High-End Ingredients and Eat Like a King?

The great thing about my plan is it works for all grocery budgets. If you are in a Dave Ramsey get-out-of-dept plan, this plan will yield grocery savings for you. Likewise, if you are financially independent and have plenty of money to spend on gourmet foods, my plan will also work for you. After all, who wants to waste money regardless of how much you have? My plan is about organization and planning, so if you put lobster and steak on your menu three nights a week, following my plan will still save you money by avoiding unnecessary purchases, wasted (spoiled) food and unplanned take out nights. As well as working for these two extremes, my plan is effective for every budget in between.
